About The Artist:
I retired from medicine in 1993, graduated in Fine Art (Winchester School of Art) in 2000, and did a Post Graduate course in printmaking at Badger Press (2002) My work is inspired by people their lives, environments, journeys, and memories, and is influenced by my Greek background, Darwin's ideas, and genetics. A practice central to both artists and scientists is looking and trying to make sense of the world. Studies show that we simultaneously perceive abstract patterns and form concepts about them. This is similar to the way artists work; as Paul Klee said "art does not represent the visual world, it makes things visible". Through visual narrative and metaphor I explore the insights and connections between art and medicine.

I am a member of Medical Art Society and exhibit regularly in London and the South West. My work is held in private collections in the UK, USA, France, and also in University College London Hospital Trust, the Postgraduate Medical Centre, the Wessex Regional Genetics Laboratory, Salisbury, the Somers Cancer Research Building and Biomedical Imaging Unit, Southampton, Action on Elder Abuse, London, Age Concern, Salisbury, and the John Creasey Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art, Salisbury Library. Work is also in The Public Catalogue Foundation (Gloucestershire & Wiltshire), due for publication May 2010.
